Wellness brand “benni” launches “Relax” dubbed the “5-hour energy for Relaxation.”
Featuring a potent blend of 30 mg of broad-spectrum hemp-derived CBD, tropical fruit tea, L-theanine, and magnesium. The plant-based beverage promises that consumers can get all the “benni-fits” of CBD in a convenient 2 fl oz shot. benni Relax is vegan, keto, sugar-free, and sweetened with natural monk-fruit. It has received a strong reception in independent stores throughout the Southeast and is expanding rapidly.
Founded in 2018 by Bryant Joseph and Val Rodriguez, benni (from the Latin ‘bene’ for wellness) aims to make a wellness lifestyle more accessible to the average consumer with “bennificial” products and functional ingredients. The newly launched Relax shot has proven to be the brand’s biggest launch by far. “It started with a proof of concept in a few local Atlanta markets and sold through in a matter of days, even when placed next to more established brands,” co-founder and CEO Bryant Joseph said. “Shortly after that we were picked up by one local distributor who serves a variety of boutique and convenience locations in several states and have seen the same effect replicated. The shot format, functional dose, and small batch production seem to really resonate with customers looking for the modulating benefits hemp products can offer.”
Hemp CBD isn’t the only active ingredient in the shot; there’s also L-theanine, an amino acid found in green tea which may be used for treating anxiety and high blood pressure, according to WebMD. You should start to feel the effects of both the CBD and the L-theanine about 30 minutes after you drink Relax. The CBD used in benni Relax is broad spectrum with the full array of terpenes and cannabinoids except THC which makes the product fully compliant with the legal requirements of the 2018 Farm bill. Furthermore, every bottle is labeled with a QR code linking to third party lab tests as required by state law in many states. The tea is brewed in small batches and is made with real hibiscus, elderberries, blueberries, and Papaya.
Tropical Berry is the only flavor currently offered but more flavors are in the works. “We plan to have a full profile of flavors; that is our most common question from store owners who see the product move,” Joseph said.
benni donates a portion of net proceeds to non-profit groups like Yoga4Change, an organization working to empower vulnerable youth, military veterans, incarcerated individuals, and addiction recovery populations through a purpose driven yoga-program. “They really embody accessible wellness to a wider audience which is why we teamed up with them,” co-founder Val Rodriguez said. “We knew we wanted to have a social impact partner and they do a great job of helping demonstrate wellness can be for everyone, not just people who fit a particular aesthetic.”
