Asif Ali Gohar, a professional rose grower and father to two has been able to create a new variety of floribunda rose which has been named Gohar after its creator. The ideal time for growing the Gohar rose is late autumn and, when fully matured, it becomes a long-stemmed rose with large, beautiful leaves.
Asif spends most of his time running his family flower shop which he has been in charge of for over ten years. As well as selling plants to the citizens of Lahore, his home city, he also experiments with the growing process and crossbreeding of roses. It was during one of these experiments that the Gohar rose was created.
The rose itself is very popular with gardeners of all ability as it is easy to grow and stays in bloom for a considerable amount of time. In addition, it also a stunning asset in any garden. Speaking to Asif Ali Gohar on his new creation he said; “It took me a long time. I had to do a lot of research and test different roses to get what I wanted.”
After vigorous testing, Asif settled for a crossbreed of the Rosa Chinensis and Rosa Multiflora. This meant to Gohar rose had large and vibrant petals that could grow up to 3 inches and multiple flower heads could be produced on a single stem. However, the Gohar rose does not have a strong scent but it makes up for that in its physical appearance.
The flowers are best matured in flowerbeds although, they can also grow in pots making them a very easy plant to look after was the less experienced of gardeners. The Gohar rose simply needs to be watered daily and the soil needs to be maintained regularly. In addition, it is important to clear up any petals that may have fallen off. It is a brilliant plant to brighten up your garden after the summer months. Asif Ali Gohar’s advice to those looking to grow rose is; “Be patient and attentive. Your rose will not grow overnight but you must water it and tend to its soil daily to achieve the best outcome.”
Asif Ali Gohar’s Gohar rose is readily available for order and in some garden stores worldwide. Asif is doing a lot of work to make sure as many people as possible have access to the plant. Asif Ali Gohar looks forward to seeing gardeners brighten up their garden with the Gohar rose.
