Join Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement as They Nurture Neglected Horses

As one of the nation’s finest horse rescue programs, Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement has saved almost 180 horses since its founding in 2005. The Kansas-based all-volunteer organization typically has about 40 horses in its care at any time. Most of these horses come from neglected settings where their health has seriously deteriorated. In many of these cases, these gentle and noble creatures are suffering from ailments that significantly impede eating, digesting or walking.

Rainbow Meadows has helped nurture dozens of these horses back to health so that they can be adopted and enjoyed by loving families. This recuperative process involves a variety of services including proper diet, grooming, dental care and veterinary intervention. The budget for these services comes exclusively from donations.

In the past, Rainbow Meadows has relied on the grazing pastures as one of the feeding means at its ranch in Kansas.  However, there has been a severe drought in the Midwest in the past year which has severely limited the production of grass and hay for the horses to feed. Rainbow Meadows estimates that it will require 250 tons of hay to supply their horses through the year. Each ton has cost $100 to $125, but this is expected to rise as high as $150. In addition to hay, many of these horses will require medical attention to return to health.

Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement is asking for donations from the public to help support these critical efforts. Without the services that Rainbow Meadows provides, many of these horses would be slaughtered or left to languish in slow, agonizing pain until they died. The contributions for Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement go completely to the care of the animals because it is operated completely by volunteers.

Your generous donations will help provide food and care necessary to restore these animals to a state in which they can be adopted as well as help rescue more horses. Any size donation is appreciated and many come with rewards key fobs, jewelry and stays at the Rainbow Meadows ranch.
