Fairfax, VA – May 4, 2015 – Emily McDermott’s has been writing poems since she was in elementary school. Now she is embarking on a new journey to share her unique talents and gifts with the world by writing her first children’s book called “Little One.” “Little One” conveys a mother’s love and anticipation for her unborn child. In order to publish the book, the author has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $5,000 by May 26, 2015.
The story was inspired by a poem Emily originally wrote in 2004 to her friends that were expecting their first child. Years later, Emily decided to transform the poem into a book she hopes to share with parents and children around the world. This is a universal story that all parents and children can relate to with bright, gorgeous watercolor illustrations. Families can read it together and experience a sense of joy and happiness as parents remember what it was like to await the birth of their child.
Emily already has a talented illustrator, Hannah Adams-Collier, on board. To review some of the illustrations Hannah has created for the book, please visit Emily’s Kickstarter campaign. Emily has also been working with Springtime books and hopes to get published through them. If this project is successful, there are plans to publish a “Little One” for daughters as well.
To make a contribution, please visit the Kickstarter campaign or click here. Backers can choose from many attractive rewards as appreciation for the donation. Perks range from free copies of the book to art prints of the book’s illustrations.
Please know this is an “all-or-nothing” deal, which means if the campaign does not reach the goal then Emily will not receive any assistance and “Little One” may remain just a dream. Any amount given will count! Please share this on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks, and let other parents know how they can help make “Little One” a reality.
