Lafayette, LA – May 5, 2015 – The original team behind the classic 1990 music documentary ‘Zydeco: Nite ’n’ Day’ has got together again to make another film called ‘Zydeco – The Next Generation.’ This time they are documenting the descendants of legendary musicians who are continuing with the folk tradition. In order to make this movie possible, creators have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise £25,000 by May 31, 2015.
“Zydeco – Nite ‘n’ Day” was released in 1990. Island Visual Arts distributed the film around the world. Popular networks like PBS in the United States, Japan, Germany, Italy, Holland and France broadcast the film several times. Its impact throughout the years is evident because people still request copies of the documentary today, which is why a limited edition 25–year anniversary DVD was recently produced and on sale soon direct from the makers.
This time they are revisiting rural Louisiana to find the successors of legendary Zydeco musicians like Clifton Chenier, Boo Zoo Chavis, Rockin Dobsie, Alphonse ‘Bois Sec’ Ardoin, and John Delaphose. The documentary will also highlight new talent continuing the beloved Zydeco tradition. The filming will begin in September of this year at the Southern Development Foundations Zydeco Festival at Plaisance.
The movie will be shot in 4K and will use the latest technology available. The same director, producer, and associated crew as the first documentary will be involved in the making. Editing will take place in Bath, England and post-production in London.
A worldwide distribution deal is being negotiated and should be in place before shooting commences.
To make a contribution, please visit Kickstarter or click here. Backers can choose attractive rewards as a “thank you” for the support such as the 25-year anniversary DVD and the upcoming film free of charge.
This is an “all-or-nothing” deal, which means if the campaign does not meet the goal then the project cannot move forward. So know a donation of any amount counts. Please share this on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. The more awareness brought to the campaign, the faster the Kickstarter will reach its goal. Together, the world can make this compelling documentary a reality!
