Sacramento, CA – A new addition to the highly acclaimed Ray Courage Mystery Series has just been released. Authored by R. Scott Mackey and published by Sacramento’s Big Hound Publishing, Courage Resurrected continues the saga of retired college professor turned private investigator Ray Courage.
Set in Northern California, Courage Resurrected begins with Ray receiving mystery e-mails from his wife, who had supposedly died 13 years before. As he tries to find out who sent the e-mail—and whether his wife is still alive—Ray is threatened by a crazed woman as well as a murderer bent on suppressing the truth about Ray’s wife.
The book follows the inaugural book in the series, Courage Matters, released in 2014, and Courage Begins, a novella released earlier this year. Readers have praised the books for their sense of humor, twisting plots, and gripping narrative.
“When I released Courage Matters last year I had no idea what to expect,” Mackey said. “But the feedback from critics and readers has been off the charts.”
Examiner.com critic Mary Beth Magee wrote: “In a richly layered mystery novel, author R. Scott Mackey takes readers on a compelling adventure in northern California with Courage Resurrected… Mackey’s story leans toward gritty and hard-boiled, even as he describes a world of good people caught in rough circumstances… Any fan of tough detective novels will enjoy it, as will students of human nature.”
R. Scott Mackey lives in Northern California, where he writes both fiction and non-fiction. He’s previously authored Barbary Baseball (McFarland and Co.), the young adult novel Blood Runs Deep (The Brookfield Reader). The fourth book in the Ray Courage Mystery Series, Courage Lies Beneath, will be released later in 2015.
