Los Angeles, CA — June 01, 2015 — It happens every few minutes, all over the world. Children are getting lost in malls or wandering too far while their parents are shopping or distracted with work. Luckily, there is a way of enhancing your child’s safety that doesn’t require a SIM Card or GPS. Meet Barkid—an Apple’s iBeacon based bracelet for kids, that increases their safety, without ever being charged. More importantly, it’s safe for kids and inexpensive for parents.
Barkid consists of a high quality bracelet for the child and an application which communicates with it. The bracelet was designed specifically for children, with children. It is dust and water resistant and includes a special cartoon character on them. The child can play educational and fun games with those characters on the Barkid website, giving them more reason to enjoy it.
Now what happens when a child wanders off while wearing a Barkid bracelet? When the child travels too far away from the parent or leaves an area (up to a radius of about 30 meters), they will receive an alert on their mobile device that will inform them how far away their child is. For kindergartens that use the application , they will get updates when a child enters or leaves the premises. Also, if the child is lost, parents will be able tap the Report Missing button. From that point on, any Barkid user that your child approaches will get an alert and will be able to contact you at the touch of a button.
In order to bring this incredible bracelet to the world, and possible saves the lives of children, Barkid started a Kickstarter campaign. The funds raised would help them finish their project’s testing and eventually take this product worldwide. The goal of this project is to raise $25,000 by July 25, 2015.
To help launch Barkid, please visit the Kickstarter campaign or click here. Perks will be delivered Sept. of 2015.
Please keep in mind this is an “all-or-nothing” deal, which means if the campaign does not reach the fund goal then the project cannot move forward. So, know that any amount given matters! Help Barkid reach the goal by sharing this on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. The more people know about this, the more support the campaign will receive.
