One Man’s Legacy Transformed into a Solution that Helps Veterans All Around the World

Veteran and Olympian Launches Kickstarter Campaign to Restore His Family’s Farm

Campbellsville, KY – June 5, 2015 – Dallas Robinson is a Soldier and Olympian that has finally returned home from 3 years of overseas tours to continue the legacy his grandma and grandpa started years ago. Robinson is a third generation soldier and farmer on a 300-acre farm in LaRue County Kentucky. He has been tirelessly working to plant a sustainable, beautiful Walnut Orchard that will bring the farm back its glory days! In order to complete the Wallen Black Walnut Orchard project, Robinson launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $6,000 by June 30th.

Funds received will be invested to purchase a three-year-old black walnut trees and fertilizer for planting. There will be roughly 300 trees per acre. Wallen Ridge is based in Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace and is a registered Kentucky Proud and Home Grown by Hero’s farm. Robinson has worked hard to clean and clear the fields and a portion of the land has been leased for soy and corn production.

Most farmers opt to log the vast forestland available, which Wallen Ridge has roughly 200 acres of and the remaining are tillable acres. However, due to the visible devastation logging has caused in this world, it is time to take a stand on this and find another way to use the land that is eco-friendly, organic, and still profitable. He hopes to have every walnut tree fully planted by next fall. When the trees are matured, Robinson will reach out to his veteran friends to collect the walnuts, prune the trees and mentor other veteran farmers.

Not only will the farm provide quality nuts for people to enjoy, but also give many veterans employment and a peaceful release for the heroes that have served this beautiful country.
