Anar Hasanov, 26, a young Turkish entrepreneur, has been developing the idea of a snake farm for venom extraction. Naming the project Venomach™, Hasanov notes that the global demand for snake venom currently excessed the available supply, primarily due to research into anti-venom products. Hoping to take advantage of this growing and flourishing market, Hasanov has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds to develop the idea and to build a working snake farm that produces venom from all types of rare and poisonous snakes. According to Hasanov, “There is great potential in researching snake venom and even other forms of venom from different species. Already certain medications and substances require the production and constant supply of snake venom, and more is needed for research.”
Because of the many regulations and strict laws that surround the risks and conditions of snake farming for venom, Hasanov needs funds to pursue this dream. All funds collected through the IndieGoGo campaign, located at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/venomach#/story, will be used to acquire and purchase licenses, set up the company and pay registration costs, rent land for the facility’s location, perform light construction, purchase equipment, hire staff, locate and pay experts for training and to search for and purchase snakes from Africa, Asia and around the world.
The farm will be located in Turkey and will pursue venom collection from all types of snakes, enabling researchers worldwide to conduct research on anti-venom and medication for various diseases.
Pledge levels range from $1 to $100 and perks include thank-you gifts as well as a subscription to Venomach™ Magazine.
