John P. Kehoe filed Wednesday, July 1, 2015 with the US Federal Election Commission to officially establish his candidacy and campaign committee for his bid to represent New York State’s 19th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. The announcement of his confirmed registration establishes Mr. Kehoe as the only member of either major political party formally declared in the race.
Mr. Kehoe, of Rochester, NY, is Chairman & CEO of Yellowcake Music publishing and digital distribution, and a member of the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University Roundtable, as well as a former published Baker Institute International Economics intern of three years. In 2007, Kehoe spent a quarter as Development and Library Intern at the Middle East Institute in Washington, DC, where he was the sole author of a published, comprehensive bibliography on the history and politics of Pakistan. In recognition of his accomplishments as a former journalist, he was awarded in 2003 the Franklin D. Roosevelt Award for Outstanding News Intern by the Harvard Crimson, the officialstudent newspaper of Harvard College in Cambridge, MA.
Kehoe’s experience with electoral politics includes being the elected delegate to the Travis County, TX (Austin metropolitan area) Democratic Convention in 2008, and being twice promoted, to the level ofsole operating Senior Field Manager, for Grassroots Campaigns Inc.’s Southwest Region field office in Austin, TX in 2004, having trained and managed teams, planned and executed fundraising strategies including zip code mapping and donor targeting, and the collection of over $30,000 in funds, and hundreds of contacts for the Federal donor registry database for the Democratic National Committee to fund Federal candidates in the ‘04 General Election, almost entirely through grassroots, face-to-face donor relations efforts.
Mr. Kehoe is an experienced strategy consultant of seven years, having been promoted to Consultant in Accenture (ACN)’s Health & Public Service Strategy practice, where he was a public service clearance-level contractor to clients including the US Federal government; multilateral financial institutions; not-for-profit organizations; and Fortune 250 corporations in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, communications equipment manufacturing, and energy & utilities. At ACN, he was awarded an assignment with Accenture Development Partnerships (ADP), where he coordinated marketing planning and execution for a Dutch non-governmental organization (NGO) launching a low-cost health care program for a group of 2,000 dairy farmers and their families in Kenya’s Rift Valley. He actively maintains professional proficiency in Spanish, elementary proficiency in Swahili, and intermediate proficiency in Arabic.
Kehoe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Rice University, and is also the recipient of a professional graduate certificate in organizational leadership from the Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University. He is currently a professional graduate program student at both Harvard (Data Visualization course) and Stanford (Decision Strategy & Risk Management program) Universities.
Mr. Kehoe promises to work with Congressional leadership on a bipartisan deal to implement broad restructuring of the Federal tax code. He has also pledged to quickly implement high-priority tax reforms, including elimination of special interest exemptions, reduction of regressive taxes including the Federal payroll tax, and reform of the estate tax for more equitable beneficiary outcomes.
Kehoe plans to strengthen America’s borders, particularly through a modernized Information & Communications Technology (ICT) system. Mr. Kehoe says that his experience as a Federal security strategy consultant at Accenture makes him uniquely positioned to enhance America’s outdated information security infrastructure.
Mr. Kehoe says he looks forward to campaigning alongside any peers who may enter the race. But, for the time being, he is unopposed as the sole candidate for US House of Representatives in New York’s 19th Congressional District.
