Anatolia makes up the majority of the Republic of Turkey. It has a rough terrain with uplifted blocks & down-folded troughs. The conditions get much harsher in the rural parts where people have to walk kilometers for basic amenities as roads get closed with snow. Little kids walk kilometers of cold & bumpy roads in harsh conditions to get education, so that they can fulfill their dreams. Worst part, the low income students can’t even afford proper shoes. But the team of INSAN, a nonprofit organization, has started “A pair of Happiness” project to provide resistant shoes to such kids.
Reportedly, this project aims at providing 10.000 pairs to 75 elementary school students in severe need across 33 cities of Anatolia. Closing of around 7000 roads due to snow made things miserable for these kids. Realizing their situation, this project originated. As reported, students of class 1st to 3rd were chosen as of now to be provided with these shoes as the kids of this age group are most susceptible to suffer in such harsh conditions. With collaboration with these 75 schools, shoe sizes were determined & categorized.
To sustain the rough terrain & regular rainfall, the souls of these shoes are made strong & well built & the shoe itself is waterproof. For the ease of these little kids, they are designed with Velcro straps, easy to put on & off. Tartan fabric is used inside the shoe to make them sweat-proof. So in making them, a complete care of harsh terrain & conditions as well as comfort & ease of these kids has been taken.
Manufacturing each pair of shoe costs $10. So the target of donating 10,000 pairs of shoes to these kids will cost $100000. Kivanc Kilicer-Chairman, Seda Diren-Vice Chairman, Can Gokceatam – IT Director & the team INSAN has started a crowd-funding campaign to raise funds for meeting up the costs & help those kids.
A school library will be names after the one, who’ll donate 200 pairs & every donor’s name will be listed on the project website.
