6th July, 2015 – Burdwan, WB – State Level Media Mitra Launch cum awareness programme on the implementation of Global Village Project, 2015 organized by Council of Information and Broadcasting, New Delhi was held at Burdwan Town Hall today. Present during the program was National Vice President Mr. Santosh Lohar, State Joint Secretary Mr. Gourab Chakrabortty alongside State Secretary Manik Chowdhury, Burdwan Press Club’s President and Nodal Officers from various parts of West Bengal.

State Joint Secretary Mr. Chakrabortty presented a brief note on seminar’s objective where he informed that the Global Village Mission has been extended throughout the country with effect from the recent year and the State team of Council of Information and Broadcasting has decided to enforce the Successful Implementation of Global Village Mission in the state from 1st July, 2015 onwards through its effective Media Mitra Network. Mr. Chakrabortty updated about the endeavor of the “Mission” which is to provide equal opportunity in the society via easy and fastest access of quality Information about state & central level policies and benefits across all strata of the societies at affordable prices to people to live a life with dignity.

He also enlightened the attendees that the “Mission” envisages entitlement of Information and Services to all categories of beneficiaries with better career opportunities and growth. Additionally, Mr. Gourab informed the gathering that the concerned department will set up various control mechanisms such as District Media Mitra Officer (DMMO), State Media Mitra Commission and State, Block and District level Implementation and Vigilance Committee which will enable for the expeditious and effective implementation of “Global Village Mission”. Furthermore, he requested the responsible authorities for authentic beneficiaries to be identified for Effective Integration of Society.

National Vice President Mr. Santosh Lohar imparted training to BMMs, GPMMs and Nodal Officers present during the occasion on effectively understanding and implementing the Global Village Mission through effective Media Mitra Network. He updated that it is the responsibility of the every individual member of the Council for implementation of the “Global Village Mission” and that the beneficiaries of the “Mission” in rural and urban areas should be identified by BMMs and GPMMs respectively.

Additionally, Mr. Santosh informed that in order to identify the eligible beneficiaries in accordance with the criteria required the State team has decided to hold awareness & survey in rural and urban areas throughout the state from July, 2015. Furthermore, Mr. Lohar explicated in detail the various criteria required to categorize and authenticate beneficiaries and services linked with.

The programme also saw an interactive session between the Blocks, GPs concerned team and the gathering present for the successful execution of the State Level Launch of Media Mitra Network in the State of West Bengal. The program was also addressed by Block & GP Coordinators and fellow members.


State Executive Team – Global Village Mission by Media Mitra Network

Council decided to rollout “Global Village Mission” across country through effective implementation of “Global Village School (GVS)” and “Global Village Educational Research and Development (GVERD)”. Global Village School will be delivering school education up to class IV standard in English medium where as Global Village Educational Research and Development will be delivering education in “Allied Healthcare” and “Medical courses”.
