Defoamers are specialty chemicals used in various industries such as pulp and paper, oil & gas, textiles, pharmaceuticals, detergents, lubricants, food & beverage and others to control foam generated during the production process. Usually it is very difficult to break down the foam and is stabilized by the surface elasticity and surface viscosity of the film. Defoamers help in maximizing the efficiency of the process along with its basic function to eliminate foam from the foaming media.
Pulp & paper is the major end user industry for defoamers followed by oil & gas. These two applications itself capture more than 50% of the market.
