International Emergency Medical Training for Teens is a project designed to help teens in several countries learn to give emergency medical services. This training is delivered in a teen-friendly format and translated into the students’ native language to facility rapid learning. Now, the group has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds to facilitate the printing and distribution of these courses. All money raised from the campaign will be used to tailor materials for various language groups and people whose young people are ready to work hard to learn the information necessary to become first-line emergency responders in a wide range of situations.
The courses are designed to empower young people to intervene in emergency situations rather than remaining helpless bystanders. The material is user-friendly and allows for an adult to become certified as an instructor in order to deliver the class to a group. Classes will cover requirements for emergency care associated with sports, leisure and work. Each study course contains modules that can be combined to allow additions of activities that require specific knowledge for special groups.
Students receive a wallet-sized card when they complete the course to identify them as having completed the course. The courses are also available in an online format for easy access from anywhere in the world so that individual students can also study and receive their certificates even if they cannot access a group class.
The Kickstarter campaign, located at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/international-emergency-medical-training-for-teens#/story, offers pledge levels from €5 to €4,500 and prizes including discounts on instructor training packages as well as full seven-day courses for participants.
