Copenhagen, DK – August 03rd, 2015 – On April 25th, Nepal experienced a devastating earthquake that left the Nepalese people feeling hopeless and void. After the earthquake, CodersTrust (CT) asked themselves what they could do to support the Nepalese community and the answer was simple: “Let’s go and do what we are good at, education.” That is why they have started an Indiegogo campaign, to raise awareness and the necessary funds to develop the program.
In 3 months, CodersTrust will impact the lives of more than 1,000 people in Nepal. 150 students will learn basic data entry skills and 1,000 existing students will take part in seminars to kick-start their freelancing careers. They will receive tools that will enable them to start earning $2-3 per hour after 3-4 months of constant practice, a lot for people who usually earn $1/ day. CT will also help the students find jobs with a dedicated team of bidders.
CodersTrust (CT) is a Danish for-profit company that provides microfinance to underprivileged talents to upgrade their coding skills so they can earn more money on freelance portals.
“At CodersTrust, we believe in borderless access to education and the online labor market for everyone, regardless of race, gender, age and geography,” says co-founder Cayo Fiebig.
The program is supported globally by DANIDA and they are also working in a joint venture with Grameen Solutions in Bangladesh. Well renowned entrepreneurs and individuals such Morten Lund and Douglas Rushkoff (along with many others) are supporting CodersTrust as advisors and board members.
This is why CodersTrust has created an Indiegogo campaign, to raise funds and to get to work helping the people affected by the earthquake. Their campaign started on July 21th and ends in 45 days. Their goal is to raise $40,000 for the Nepal project.
