“Saskia Larsen plays in 10 Days In A Madhouse — The Nellie Bly Story.”
Saskia Larsen, who began acting only three years ago, plays in the upcoming film 10 Days In A Madhouse — The Nellie Bly Story, a feminist film that is being called “the best movie at Cannes this year.”

Born and raised in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, newcomer and rising star Saskia Larsen didn’t always know she wanted to be an actor. But like most who choose to dedicate their life to “playing pretend”, Larsen has always been the type to wear her heart on her sleeve. Like all great actors, she’s able to easily access her emotions and rely on her natural sympathetic instinct in order to deliver a convincing performance. She attributes some of her natural acting ability to her master’s degree in psychology.

Saskia Larsen put her degree to good use when she spent six years of her life working as a school psychologist in Connecticut. For five of those years, she worked with middle school children and for one year, elementary school. Larsen took great satisfaction and joy in working with middle school kids as they are at that age where they can think independently, but still be so susceptible to the benefits of a positive role model.

Larsen also worked as a massage therapist for fifteen years before thinking to herself that she wanted to do something different. With this conclusion, she packed up and moved to New York City three years ago in order to attend the world famous Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, which focuses on method acting.

Larsen landed both an acting and co-producing role in the upcoming historical women’s rights film 10 Days In A Madhouse, alongside veteran actor Christopher Lambert (Highlander, Mortal Kombat) and Kelly Le Brock (Weird Science). The film is based on Nellie Bly’s 1887 exposé of the same name, detailing her undercover investigation of a notorious women’s asylum. Larsen plays one of the many mistreated women who Bly reports on. She made a lasting impression on acclaimed director Timothy Hines with her “honest” and “heartfelt” audition.

Currently, Larsen lives in the Upper West Side of New York and continues to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress. She can be found cheering on her nephew Saywer Fredericks, who recently won Season 8 of NBC’s The Voice, as well as working on a TV show that she hopes to one day bring to life.

10 Days In A Madhouse — The Nellie Bly Story begins its exclusive run in Theaters November 20, 2015, expanding Wide after several weeks.
