From 2007 to 2014, Italy was a net exporter of uncooked pasta. Over the period under review, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced due to high import prices.

Italy’s top 5 trading partners in 2014 were Germany, the U.K., France, the U.S. and Japan, with a combined share of 56.9% of Italy’s exports.

Turkey and the U.S. were among the main global suppliers of uncooked pasta in 2014, and were also among the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014. Annual growth rates from these countries were +27% per year and +9% per year, respectively. With this, Turkey significantly strengthened its position in the global export structure.
