Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 34.1% of its total dolls and toys exports in value terms, accounting for 39.7% of the U.S.’s total imports.
From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter of dolls and toys. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. The difference in physical terms was even more pronounced.
The Czech Republic and Germany were among the other main global suppliers of dolls and toys in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Mexico (+35.6% per year) and the United Kingdom (+76.4% per year).
China’s top 5 trading partners in 2014 were the U.S., the United Kingdom, Philippines, Japan and Germany, with a combined 52.6% the share of China’s dolls and toys exports. The share of Philippines increased (+4.0 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. illustrated negative dynamics (-9.5 percentage points).
