San Francisco, CA – On August 17 2015, SwipeShop launched a Kickstarter campaign for their new app that functions as a ‘Tinder for Craigslist’ with an emphasis on safety. Users can post items for sale or swipe to buy – it’s that simple!
“Imagine a world where you can bid on anything. You might be thinking about a platform like eBay. Now imagine if that world were right outside your door…or down the street,” says the team, “That is what we created, a platform that turns local strangers into friendly neighbors. What better way to make extra money than by turning your smartphone into your storefront? No shipping necessary, just a new friend, coming over to bring you your new guitar.”
SwipeShop has a long list of features that both buyers and sellers will love. Buyers can easily finger swipe to purchase, follow or decline an item and searches can be refined using location, price and category. They can also follow key sellers or items and get instant notifications on profile activity. Benefits for sellers include free listings with up to 6 photos and a description of the item for sale along with instant sharing of listings to personal Facebook and Twitter profiles. With this local shopping app, both groups have the pleasure of making new connections and avoiding shipping charges, delivery times and returns associated with traditional online marketplaces.
“Equally as important as the product, we have identified a market fit. Growing trends at universities include tighter budgets, ethical consumerism, and tinder swipes. Throughout our research, we find that students search for Craigslist alternatives to buy and sell on campus. Oftentimes, a Facebook group emerges to fill demand,” the creators explain, “The key to SwipeShop’s national and global success is to be the first platform to cater specifically to university students, initially.”
In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of rewards including a handwritten note from the creators and a SwipeShop Backers bracelet for $50 or your name as a SwipeShop KickBacker on their website with a SwipeShop bracelet and t-shirt for $250.
