LOS ANGELES, CA – Sep 2, 2015 – Scriptapalooza is proud to announce it is accepting applications for the First Annual, 2016 Scriptapalooza Fellowship until October 31, 2015. This is an opportunity for budding writers to potentially receive a once in a lifetime mentorship from accomplished film producers and writers.

“This new fellowship will give its recipient the opportunity to focus solely on his or her writing by removing the writer from his or her daily commitments and providing a supportive environment,” says Mark Andrushko, founder of Scriptapalooza Screenwriting Competition, which has been promoting and discovering writers since 1998.

First prize, announced on February 15th, 2016, receives a Writer’s Retreat in Costa Rica for five days and a six-month mentorship. Five additional writers will receive one thousand dollars a piece, an online writing course, and a three-month mentorship. Mentors include Amanda Marshall of Cold Iron Pictures; Janet Jeffries of Lawrence Bender Productions; Rob Margolies of Different Duck Films; Alexia Melocchi of Little Studio Films; Katrina Nahikian of Bullet Heart; and Breven Warren of Angaelica.

Andrushko says, “Helping as many writers as possible has always been the foundation and heart of Scriptapalooza, and this mission will be furthered with the Fellowship.”

The Scriptapalooza Fellowship program was developed to honor dedicated writers and to help further their creative process and skills. This fellowship allows fellows to be surrounded by like-minded professionals and individuals as they follow their writing dreams. Aside from a completed screenplay, application, and fee, applicants must answer the question, “Why are you interested in this fellowship and what do you hope to gain from it?” Even if an applicant does not win a prize, all applicants are encouraged to apply because each application receives feedback from the Scriptapalooza team.
