London is one of the biggest cities in the world and home to thousands of businesses. It has a thriving business culture and one that most cities envy. It was ranked number 1 in the world for business by Forbes Magazine recently in a survey on the most influential cities. With such a reputation it is a great place to hold a conference.
London is very popular with foreign investors as they see it as a growth market. There is a lot of investment from the Far East in particular as they buy property off plan. As well as foreign investment, it has the highest concentration of corporate headquarters per capita including 68 companies on Forbes Global 2000 list. It is also Europe’s capital for finance and technology start-ups. The start-up Genome project estimates there is 3000 start-ups in London. Technology companies like Google have a huge presence too. The London office is the biggest Google office in the world outside of Silicon Valley.
Joel Kotkin from Forbes Magazine explains why London is so great for business. “A preferred domicile for the global rich, London is not only the historic capital of the English language, which contributes to its status as a powerful media hub and major advertising centre, but it’s also the birthplace of the cultural, legal and business practices that define global capitalism.”
Emily Falconer from No. 4 Hamilton Place, a West London conference venue, said “given London is a hub for business, it is the ideal place to hold a conference. It has great transport links making it easy to get around. It is also a fun city and perfect for those longer conferences where delegates stay for the week.
