CHICAGO, IL – Oct 05, 2015 – A recent article posted at ABCNews.com touches on the greater issues regarding Sexually Transmitted Diseases when it comes to online hook-ups. Following a recent ad campaign in Los Angeles by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, several dating apps have hit back claiming the campaign is trying to place blame for the escalating spread of venereal diseases on them.
Although some are quick to target online dating sites that make casual encounters so easy, not everyone shares that opinion.
“While casual hook-ups have become incredibly easy, these online platforms are not the issue.” says Jack Lombardi, CEO of MeetPositives.com. “Unlike the generation who came of age during the AIDS epidemic, Millennials lack that same level of awareness, or should I say, fear.”
Although Mr. Lombardi commends the AIDS healthcare group for their efforts, he feels a blanket type statement about online dating isn’t fair, and believes it could backfire on them.
“Online dating sites and the internet is not the problem,” Lombardi states. “The problem is awareness. Targeting those who use these apps through statistic-based web ads would enable them to make informed decisions.”
By developing and launching MeetPositives.com, a site for people with STD to meet, Jack Lombardi acknowledges that online dating is not going away and believes that by providing a more positive online environment he is offering a safer social environment.
