LANHAM, Md. – Chesapeake Home Health Care, a leading pediatric nursing provider of services for special needs and medically fragile children and nursing-dependent young adults, announced today that it will host a Fall Festival and Open House on October 31. The community event will feature a variety of fun and safe activities for families with children with special needs, including holiday treats, face painting, balloon artist and giveaways. The event will also include workshops for health professionals and caregivers.
“The complex needs of families with medically-fragile, technology-dependent children are often unmet and misunderstood,” said Erica Paul, Co-CEO/CFO. “The goal of our event is to serve and support these families and give them hope, as well as provide much needed resources and information for both families and healthcare professionals.”
Since 2006, Chesapeake Home Health Care has supported members of the local community by providing them with hands-on care for loved ones, connecting them with additional wraparound services and offering professional education opportunities for caregivers. The company was founded on the principles of inspiration, empathy and a heart to serve, and with the help of Mary Evangeline Paul, a registered nurse and pediatric home health nursing in the region.
Boasting an operating budget of nearly five million dollars, the company manages a staff of more than 100 highly trained nurses and other professionals, and serves nearly 50 families. The company offers a wide range of services, including private duty nursing services in the home and for school aged children in the school setting, rehabilitative nursing, respite care, skilled nursing and coordination of care. Additionally, the company aims to become a regional hub for nurse education, developing and offering curriculum for nurses to earn CEUs.
Chesapeake Home Health Care also specializes in patient advocacy and patient/family education. The company works diligently and patiently with local families to obtain the resources and opportunities they need to develop a structured and normal family lifestyle, and maintain a safe home environment. To assist in this effort, the company offers free comprehensive nursing assessments and free family consultations.
“We are excited to meet and engage with the families in our community and also to help other health professionals learn more about caring for children with special needs,” said Laseandia M. Harley, who serves as Chesapeake Home Health Care’s chief executive officer and chief operating officer. “Come out and enjoy a day of fun, family and community!”
The Fall Festival and Open House will be held at 4500 Forbes Boulevard, Suite 110 in Lanham, Maryland from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
