The individual who is brought to a recovery facility, or who finds their own way, has probably spent an extended period of time being passionately attracted to a particular means of escaping “real life.” The addiction and reliance upon drugs is attractive because it offers an escape. When the patient finally begins to think seriously about drug rehab, there is an attraction to that idea because the behaviors, the damages and the risks associated with their substance addiction no longer outweighs what the addict once paid dearly to escape. Adjustments in life circumstances, the demands of loved ones, requirements of coworkers, and any other outside pressure that might be thought to assist an addict attain recovery, may actually do more damage than good. When the individuals struggling with addiction finally makes the choice to enter recovery, supporting their decision can be one of the most valuable gifts an individual can give to another.
With the goal of creating a safe haven where each patient can reach their goals of sobriety and achieve the skills and tools needed to create a life that is fulfilling and healthy, a personalized addiction recovery program can assist the individual to access the healing aspects of themselves. This can be accomplished through one-on-one intense counseling, cognitive therapy, family therapy, and experiential therapy. There are also applications which can be highly beneficial that are taken off of the twelve step programs that have assisted many people to achieving sobriety with community support and involvement.

This includes investigating motivations, experiences, processes and behaviors that have led the individual to an unmanageable life controlled by addiction.
