“CD/Digital Album Front Cover, Copyright 2015, Gregory A. Kellman”
Hence, comes Marriage To Dancehall, a body of work that in some sense has the possibility to set new trends but in another more sinister way follows the seemingly recurrent themes that have always existed in dancehall culture: money, sex, and after hour parties that ooze marijuana. Consisting of all new songs never before released, it offers an extraordinary look into the main character’s artistic progression and his fast rise within the Dancehall ranks…

A quiet morning in mid-November began with well-deserved honors for the nation’s Veterans and their exemplary valor in the face of adversity, while guarding the delicate balance of society as we know. A society that offers many artists a censorship free platform to convey their message or just simply entertain the public; as may be the case of one time Gold Reggae Recording Star Melekel, who on November 11, 2015 almost three years to date of his Interscope Records release Desperado going gold, drops a ten track digital album entitled Marriage To Dancehall on Mtd Records.

The album released amidst numerous delays that threatened to deny dancehall fans worldwide the opportunity to get their hands on it, due in part to failed negotiations between the artist’s team and the Major Label backing the CD. With very few details disclosed and the minutes from those meetings hidden from public knowledge, we can only speculate that such a grand and costly litigation process could hinder any artist career and tie up an album project in the courts for years. Despite the gravity of the apparent situation, having a non-exclusive recording contract and full ownership of master recordings can prove to be advantageous in the long run.

Hence, comes Marriage To Dancehall, a body of work that in some sense has the possibility to set new trends but in another more sinister way follows the more seemingly recurrent themes that have always existed in dancehall culture: money, sex, and after hour parties that ooze marijuana. Consisting of all new songs never before released, it offers an extraordinary look into the main character’s artistic progression and his fast rise within the Dancehall ranks, as one of the most exposed Reggae and Dancehall artist on the International scene outside of Jamaica.
