Newton, New Jersey – 23 November 2015 – The ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award® was established in 2007 to honor emerging leaders under 40 years of age. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of hosting the ATHENA Leadership Award®, the Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce gave out the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award® for the first time.
As one of the three nominees under consideration, Ur was named for the esteemed recognition during the awards luncheon held at the Battleground Country Club in Manalapan, New Jersey last week. The award recognizes emerging leaders who:
• Demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession.
• Provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community.
• Clearly serve as a role model for young women personally and professionally.
The Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce is the only organization in the state of New Jersey licensed to give away this prestigious international award. This new category garnered three nominees in its first year, complementing the six women honorees for the ATHENA Leadership Award®, which celebrates exemplary leadership, business and professional accomplishments, community service, and providing a role model to encourage women to achieve their leadership potential.
David Glenn, vice president of human resources at United Methodist Homes of New Jersey, who submitted the nomination, reflected, “Sarah, an unassuming and humble leader, has already accomplished a great deal more than others with many more years of experience. I expect she will continue to grow as a leader and have a great career ahead.”
Ur held several positions at Bristol Glen before being named executive director in 2014. Since that time she has built a strong foundation within the community and among her 200 staff members.
Upon announcement of her award, Ur, a resident of Rockaway, New Jersey, declared, “While I am truly honored, I share this award with the leadership, executive and management teams, as well as the associates and residents here at Bristol Glen.”
