Destin, FL – On November 10 2015, Christopher Li launched a Kickstarter campaign for BriteSide, an app that will change how you view the world by automatically filtering out all of the negative posts in your Facebook feed.
“After Facebook’s 2012 mood experiment it became apparent that social media has more power to affect us than we think,” the creator explains, “That is a tough realization, but one that can also be embraced and used for something good. By filtering out all of the negative posts from our Facebook feeds, BriteSide encourages us to view, share, and become the best of ourselves, each other, and the world.”
All of the negative posts that we are exposed to on our Facebook feeds on a daily basis can be a bit of a downer – it can even make us post more negative things ourselves! What the creator of BriteSide, Christoper Li realized, is that sometimes the way people share negative content online can skew our perception of things. And it turns out, people who see more positive things on their news feeds share more positive content!
Li noticed that social media can give us the power to positively influence our perceptions of the world. By filtering out negative Facebook posts, will help everyone who uses it spread content that uplifts our mood instead of bringing us down. Now the creator has turned to the Kickstarter community for help raising the funds he needs to complete the iOS and Android versions of the app, pay for servers, and to advertise the public release.
“I’ve always wanted to do good in my life, to do something meaningful and share it with others. I like to think of BriteSide as my viral positivity project,” says Li, “It’s designed to be very simple and yet very impactful. After a single sync with your Facebook, BriteSide’s beautifully designed feed will continue to brighten your life with all positive posts. And with every share from your BriteSide feed, you’ll be spreading that brightness and positivity to the lives around you.”
In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of rewards including early access to the app for $10, The Developer Package (a detailed ebook with a compilation based on the creator’s last 5 years of experience in the tech startup scene) for $25, and more. Backers can also pledge $50 for a real life cardboard Instagram-like filter with a #BriteSide hashtag on it or $100 for early app access and the “Briteside: The Making Of” video.
