fitRaise’s free-to-join fundraising platform earns charities donations from runs, walks, and bike rides

Atlanta, GA – Jan 06, 2016 – fitRaise, Inc., the app that lets people donate to their favorite charity for each mile they run, announced its January series of charity fundraising events. Through the fitRaise platform, individuals can raise money while they run, walk, or ride their bikes on their own time in their own location for non-profits that include the National Down Syndrome Society and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

fitRaise users earn donations for every mile that they log using the free fitRaise app for iPhone or Android, or through fitRaise’s integration with Under Armour, MapMyRun, MapMyRide, or any Fitbit device. fitRaise’s technology allows participants to create donation pages, earn pledges for each mile, and process donations directly between donors and charities.

Charities participating in the January events are:

Adventure Bags:  A non-profit that provides backpacks to children that are placed in foster or protective care. These backpacks provide children with essential items, including toothbrush and toothpaste, books, and a stuffed animal among other items that they can call their own in a difficult time.

National Down Syndrome Society:  The national advocate for the value, acceptance, and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome. This organization has a nationwide reach to impact the lives of all people with Down Syndrome.

The Above and Beyond Youth Academy:  The Above and Beyond Youth Academy brings together K-12 students and community members to provide opportunities for growth, learning, and personal development.

Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption:  The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national nonprofit public charity dedicated exclusively to finding permanent homes for the more than 130,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care systems. Created by Wendy’s® founder Dave Thomas – who was adopted – the Foundation implements evidence-based, results-driven national service programs, foster care adoption awareness campaigns and innovative grant-making.
