08 Feb, 2016 – Local favorite, 6th Street Pier, is grateful to have once again been voted by their customers and industry peers as the Best of The Best Restaurants in Griffin. This is the 3rd consecutive year that this family owned restaurant has wowed local diners with their bold seafood flavors and unique take on southern classics.
Owners, David and Linda Gilchrist and the dedicated staff are thrilled and grateful.
“We’d like to take the opportunity to thank our diners, friends and family for their continued support. We’re passionate about the Downtown Griffin community and will continue to make the Pier a great place to eat, drink and celebrate life.”
2015 was a busy year for the restaurant with the venue adding several new features to the bar menu , including a selection of wines by famed director Francis Ford Coppola: Sophia Chardonnay, Claret Cabernet Sauvignon and Director’s Merlot. They also added organic Frey Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Refined bourbon consumers can now enjoy Eagle Rare and Baby Hudson Bourbons. For the more adventurous patron, the bar now offers bourbon by Pecan Pile Hole Bourbon and even Sapporro rice beer and Kikkoman plum wine. The latter pairs perfectly with 6th Street’s outstanding sushi offerings. Their outdoor patio is also now available year round, newly outfitted with infrared heaters that feel like sunshine on your shoulders. As you can see, 2016 is already full of exciting new developments AND several new menu additions.
New Menu Items
Due to such an enthusiastic response, 2015’s popular feature, “Fried Chicken and Waffles” is now a 6th Street menu staple. However, that’s not the only new dish at the Pier this year. Maverick Grits, a sumptuous Southern classic served with the fresh seafood that the restaurant is so famous for, has a new twist thanks to one of their weekly customers – Michael. Michael’s Maverick Grits are served with blackened chicken, so if you’re not a sea-food lover, definitely check out this new menu item. For those with a sweet tooth, all of the restaurant’s cheesecakes are now made in house and whole cheesecakes are available for purchase with 24 hour notice. All of their in-house sauces are also now available to be taken home in pints or half pints, so you can bring a little ‘better than the beach’ flavor to your own dishes whenever you like.
6th Street Pier on Screen
Those in the know are aware that Georgia is becoming something of movie-town, and 6th Street has received their fair share of the Hollywood treatment. Last year, a scene from the show the RECTIFY was filmed using the restaurant’s newly re-vamped patio and students from the Southern Crescent Film Institute shot a scene using their main dining area.
