ALEXANDRIA, Virginia – February 11, 2016 – “Catch a Dream,” a, a family musical that details a “wartime love story,” was recently announced. It is a patriotic musical spanning the events of World War II up to the Gulf War. In the style of the big band era, this two-act show follows one man’s journey through love, war and the fight to catch the American Dream. This show honors veterans in a special way highlighting not only the contributions of the Greatest Generation and their children. A looming world war threatens family, faith and the American way of life in this universal story. “Catch a Dream” successfully gathered a professional cast, fantastic crew, and secured a venue in the Nation’s Capital.
However, before everyone can enjoy this “wartime love story,” “Catch a Dream” needs support. That’s why they launched this Kickstarter campaign. The goal of this project is to raise $7,500 by March 7, 2016. With such a high bar set, they see the greatest challenge resides in an authentic presentation of the period. Music, set, and costumes must be homogenous to transport the audience to the brink of a World War. This presents financial challenges that can only be overcome with additional funding. For example, period clothing. In order to set a realistic mood, costumes must be procured from sources that specialize in wartime clothing. Professional musicians must be adept in the big band style, and set pieces whether abstract or realistic must evoke the periods.
