Dynamic inspirational posters of Alaska’s “Last Great Race” in March 2016

SOLDOTNA, Alaska – March 2, 2016 – The Iditarod is a dog sled race that is just around the corner. Award-winning Alaskan photographer – Ron Levy – has been photographing this incredible race since 1985. Now Levy wants to create the 3rd inspirational poster in his series linking Iditarod, cancer, dogs, and the determination to move forward during hard times. In order to make this possible, Ron launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000 by March 24, 2016.

In the past, he has used his talents to bring publicity and attention to major issues around the world. Shooting for magazines, corporations and agencies, Levy’s images have been exhibited and published worldwide for the last 30 years. He also teaches Ethics in Media at the University of Alaska. After his mother died of cancer in 2004, he began looking for a way to “use my skills and desire to inspire people beyond the news value of images.”

He has also created two previous inspirational posters surrounding the Iditarod, all with his own money. The first was called “Giving a Hand to Cancer Research” that displayed the hands of 8 famous mushers. The second featured a great aurora display illuminating a dog team, with 37 musher hands framed around it. All the proceeds from the sale of these posters went to the American Cancer Society.

Ron can’t continue producing the posters with his own funds. The Iditarod-Cancer crowdfunding campaign will help him continue the successful series he started 5 years ago. The posters will be sent to those in pain or emotional need to help them get through difficult challenges in their lives. Funding will allow printing and mailing of at least 5,000 posters to people in need, hospital wings, hospices, or any other large group that will benefit from beautiful images and creative, positive encouragement.

“If the mushers can make it through 1000 miles of minus 40 temps and almost perpetual darkness, maybe this will light a fire and remind anyone that even in the darkest night, there is the possibility of incredible hope and beauty around the next corner.” ~ Ron Levy, Photographer

Help the Iditarod-Cancer Crowdfunding Project by making a contribution at Kickstarter. Backers can choose from a number of very attractive rewards starting at only $2.00, including fine art prints, photo tours, 1:1 consultations, notecards, etc.

Please keep in mind this is an “all-or-nothing” deal. If the campaign does not reach the funding goal, then the project cannot move forward. Any amount given can make a difference. This is an incredible opportunity to be a part of a special campaign!

Help the campaign reach its goal by sharing on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media. The more people who know about this, the more support this project deserves and should receive.
