Highly Anticipated Mall of Qatar to Open by Third Quarter 2016

Doha, Qatar – March 2, 2016 – The much-anticipated Mall of Qatar, initially projected to open by the First Quarter of 2016, will finally open its doors to the world by the end of the Third Quarter of 2016. Dubbed as Qatar’s Hallmark Project and a recipient of the Project of the Year recognition by the Construction Innovations Award, the Mall of Qatar has all the right reasons to push through with its Third Quarter 2016 grand opening.

Some experts attributed delays in the grand opening of the much-touted Mall of Qatar to the declining oil prices which certainly dented luxury spending of Chinese and Russian tourists in neighboring Dubai.  Shem Krey, Deputy Managing Director, said that the delay in opening has nothing to do with the oil price slide.  Krey further explained that the delay was necessary in order to accommodate the increased number of global retailers who are jockeying for prime space in the 500-plus retail shops in 25.6 hectares of leasable space on the Mall of Qatar’s three levels.
