Success Hackers is a compilation of 1 on 1 conversations with some of the top entrepreneurs in their industry. Each contributing author reveals their strategies for helping overcome the toughest obstacles standing in the way of their customers’ success.

Keith was always a commissioned salesman and liked the ability to be financially responsible for his livelihood based on his own efforts. He enjoys working with people and has a knack for being able to make people feel comfortable, open up and share their challenges. Keith worked at three different radio stations and the last one forced him to face a simple truth: he wasn’t comfortable playing corporate politics to get promoted.

Shortly after this realization, Keith set up a meeting with both the General Manager and his Local Sales Manager at the last station where he worked. He turned in his resignation; and then at the same time asked them to hire him as an independent contractor to handle all their value-add marketing programs. He was prepared with a full proposal, including his monthly fee plus commission based on his performance. The General Manager signed the document on the spot.

That’s when Keith became an entrepreneur.

Years ago he saw Arthur Blank speak at an entrepreneur’s conference. It was when Arthur was launching Home Depot in Atlanta, and he spoke of his vision for the company. At the time, there were only neighborhood hardware stores, and most national chains were very similar. They didn’t see a need for it. But that’s not what Arthur thought. He had a vision of what Home Depot could be and articulated it very clearly.

It was a transforming experience.

Keith remembers thinking: “This guy has a crystal ball. He can see the future, and this is going to happen”. He saw Arthur’s clarity, passion, commitment and willingness to go against the grain. Arthur Blank inspired Keith to believe in his vision and dreams. Just because a few people cannot immediately see what is possible doesn’t mean it does not exist or that there is not a need for it.

Keith Kriegler explains, “Our company is White Space Marketing. The inspiration behind the name is that it’s about all the new possibilities that can open up when you look at every aspect of a situation with fresh eyes and fresh thinking to find the key insights. In other words, “White Space” means “opportunities.”
