CLEVELAND, OH – 13 Mar, 2016 – In August 2015, MCPc., Inc. celebrated the grand opening of the Foundry, a state-of-the-art rowing, sailing and fitness training center located on the banks of the Cuyahoga River. Long before that big day, MCPc called in Partners Environmental Consulting, Inc. (Partners Environmental) of Solon, Ohio to help get the project off the ground.
“We were hired to lead the assessment and remediation of the properties,” says Dan Brown, president of Partners Environmental. “Given the industrial history of the sites, it was necessary to ensure that there weren’t any adverse environmental conditions.”
Working with the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and MCPc, Partners Environmental completed Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Investigations, including soil and groundwater testing. Partners then completed risk assessments and designed the necessary remediation plans to support the redevelopment project.
According to John Garvey, PG, CP, Director of Brownfield and Remediation Services at Partners, “MCPc was great to work with, always willing to take the time to fully understand the process and truly dedicated to the end result. We were privileged to be a part of this groundbreaking new chapter in the rebirth of the Cuyahoga River.”
With only minor remediation needed, the project proceeded quickly to the development stage. Today, the Foundry is home to more than 200 rowers and three high school teams. All told, the project will encompass 100,000 square feet of space dedicated to one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
