Vehicle History, a free service that allows consumers to use VIN numbers to look up public records about used cars, now allows its users to search for a vehicle’s Kelley Blue Book value, the company announced yesterday. The latest launch by the company is towards its mission to be a one-stop hub for used car information.

Vehicle History, a free service that allows consumers to use VIN numbers to look up public records about used cars, now allows its users to search for a vehicle’s Kelley Blue Book value, the company announced yesterday.

“Our goal is to become a one-stop website for any information people may be looking for when they are either buying or selling a used car,” Vanessa Hernandez, a Vehicle History spokeswoman said. “Because Kelley Blue Book values are so respected in the industry, it makes sense for us to have a portal where people can quickly and easily look them up.”

Vehicle History stressed that they are not affiliated with Kelley Blue Book or any representatives of the company itself.

“We are an independent organization meant to be used as an informational resource for consumers,” she said. “We simply respect the information they make available, and we want people to be able to search for Kelley Blue Book values from our site rather than having to use multiple sites when searching for the estimated value of a used car.”

To see the estimated Kelley Blue Book value, consumers need to enter the VIN number of the car they are thinking about buying or selling.

“Once they do so, they will not only get the KBB value, but they will also get our vehicle history report, which will provide them with information about whether or not there are any red flags about that particular vehicle,” she said. “We think this will help them get a clear picture of whether or not they want to buy it, and if so, how much money they should offer.”

Vehicle History will not charge for the Kelley Blue Book value search service, she said.
