““This is going to be a free service,” Hernandez said. “We want people to be able to work on their Jeeps without incurring any additional expense. We believe that is the best thing we can do for our customers.””

Vehicle History, a company dedicated to helping people who buy used cars and trucks, has launched a service allowing people to get access to Jeep owner’s manuals, it was announced yesterday. Consumers will be able to quickly download the manuals to their laptop or mobile device.

“Jeeps are one of the few vehicles that consumers really like to work on themselves rather than bring to a garage,” said Vanessa Hernandez, a Vehicle History spokeswoman. “But to do so safely they need access to the owner’s manuals. We believe that making them available online will be a popular service.”

Owner’s manuals come with every new Jeep, she said, but are often lost by the time they are sold to other people, she said. Getting access to them in order to make repairs has proven difficult in the past.

“Traditionally an owner would had to find a Jeep club where someone might have an old owner’s manual that could be photocopied,” she said. “Obviously, that was a time-consuming process. This should make things a whole lot easier.”

To get the Jeep owner’s manuals, people simply need to go to the Vehicle History site and then click on the year and model they are interested in. It will then become available to them on their computer or mobile device screen, including phones and tablets.

“This is going to be a free service,” Hernandez said. “We want people to be able to work on their Jeeps without incurring any additional expense. We believe that is the best thing we can do for our customers.”

Owner’s manuals for other makes and models of vehicles will be available on the Vehicle History site in the near future, she said.
