An Epic Tale of Bravery, Chivalry, and The Battle Between Good and Evil in The Tradition Of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord Of The Rings”

New York, NY – April 26, 2016 – Following in the tradition of beloved and acclaimed authors J.R.R. Tolkien and George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones), William R. Herr has published his debut novel and begun a multi-part saga of gothic mystery, featuring evil in the form of shadows and mist.

In “From A Broken Land”, author, playwright, poet, and adventurer, William R. Herr introduces an evil mist and blight that is sweeping across the countryside leaving death and destruction in its wake.

“From A Broken Land” is William R. Herr’s debut science fiction/fantasy novel, a tale that takes the reader from one devastated community to the precipice of Armageddon. Throughout this first book of the “Broken Throne” series, Herr takes readers along with Gidon, Kira and a host of other captivating characters through long marches, fierce battles and a world of impending doom.

Critics are already raving about “From A Broken Land”. Grady Harp, an Amazon Top 100 Hall of Fame Reviewer, writes that William R. Herr “takes us to a land of his imagination – a land we cannot be sure is wholly imaginary or one that represents a prophecy of where this universe may take us. This is skillful, compelling writing.”

John Kelly of Cincinnati City Beat, says “From a Broken Land” is a “highly imaginative, intricately told, and epic in its scope and ambition. It’s an edge-of-your seat action adventure story that will have you rooting for good to prevail over evil.” Herr’s first installment is also a heroic tale as his characters do battle with an enemy that appears only as shadows and mist. In “From A Broken Land”, Herr created his own universe of Kings and Soldiers holding back the encroaching blight.

“I have family in England,” says William R. Herr. “A bunch of East-Enders in London. My mother was a pearly queen. My grandfather served with the 9th Lancers.” The author uses his wildly diverse background to create a world of chivalry and nobility. There are long marches and mortal combat, and Herr’s background as an amateur swordsman is played out on one battlefield after another.

“From A Broken Land” is Book 1 of The Broken Throne series which uniquely diverges from many cliché science fiction tomes in that it forces readers to think and analyze the real source of danger and evil. And, in doing so, they find themselves becoming wholly immersed in Herr’s world. The novel is beautifully written with a mythical and mystical feel to every single page.
