A show exploring art as a form of protest.

Portland, Oregon, United States – May 12, 2016 – TRUMP’D is a public, anti-Trump art show to turn negativity into creative and constructive displays of brilliant artwork. The creator, Matthew Grant, launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $72,169 by June 8, 2016. He wants to provide an expressive medium for people with powerful feelings about Trump and the current political climate. The funds received will be used to establish the public art show.

Matthew Grant, a street/graffiti inspired artist who works mainly with spray paint, stencils, and digital art, developed TRUMP’D because after, months of watching Donald Trump dominate the media and the primaries, he finally couldn’t take it any longer. He did the only thing he could: turn those feelings of helpless frustration into art. This cathartic act was the inspiration for creating a public art show and providing a venue for others caught in the pits of political despair.

Through art, comedy, and film Matthew wants to make the idea of President Trump funny again. The creator believes that the transcendent power of art and comedy can elevate the political dialogue surrounding Trump beyond simple sound bites. This project aims to be the most organized and vocal display of counter speech the weekend before the Republican National Convention. While it will not deter his nomination as the Republican candidate, it will serve as a rally point and give voice to those who understand the destruction his Presidency will bring.

“Using art, film and comedy, I want to host a public show that will allow Americans from all over the country to take the negativity that’s erupted from Donald Trump’s candidacy and turn it into something creative and constructive.” ~ Matthew Grant
