Sharon Anita Hill was announced as a finalist in the Business Woman of the Year category on March 10th, after being chosen over the other nominees by a selection committee comprised of over twenty local business leaders and community activists. This committee narrowed down the nominees for the ten business excellence awards to three finalists.
Hill’s selection as a finalist was based on demonstrated leadership within her company and field, efforts to pave the way for future women leaders, and making a community impact outside of the performance of her own business. A huge proponent of community service, Hill serves as Immediate Past President of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Triangle which was a factor in being chosen to receive this award.
The winners were announced at the second annual Business Excellence Award (BEA) ceremony Chapel Hill-Carrboro chamber, a red-carpet gala honoring the very best in business. Upon receiving this honor, Hill shared with the audience “When you do what you love, it is not like working.”
A certified etiquette expert, trained by the American Business Etiquette Trainers Association, Hill combines her passion for business etiquette, diversity in the workplace and MBA research on Organizational Behavior to become a recognized authority on American business etiquette for companies, universities, groups, associations and individuals. Hill is also a Toastmasters International district award winner, Distinguished Toastmaster, and has served as 2013-2015 Toastmaster International Director. She earned her Communicator certification from Duke University and is a weekly radio talk show host.
