Eric McFadden leads the puppeteer ring in the honky-tonk scene.
Road warrior Eric McFadden hangs his hat high in a mesmerizing stage show. A bit of a honky-tonk gypsy, he thrives brilliantly in the spotlight. Frequenting places like little obscure hole in the walls to legendary blues bars, his commanding performance is one class act to remember. With untamed instincts, he spirals upward to higher and higher ground. His determination is focused and relentless with a drive comparable to Jack White’s ultimate climb to the top in “It Might Get Loud”. Moving rapidly from town to town, this devoted team player and ringleader works his mojo like a master alchemist in a traveling show. Prepare to be enthralled!

Is “Funk Sabbath” possessed?
When you take some of the most smokin’ musicians on the planet as a line up in tribute to the Godfathers of Heavy Metal and set them in a legendary New Orleans blues bar one night before Halloween there is an electrifying magic in the air. As the band lays down a solid set of Black Sabbath, pouring out a massive set of monster chops, the Voodoo Loas of the legendary Crossroads decide to show up and bless the event. Like an invisible telephone portal mixed with the urge of human possession, the merging of energies between the mundane and divine transmutes into one Helluva show! Located on a quiet desolate street, the Howlin’ Wolf nightclub brings this Voodoo vortex to life!

Zakk Wylde Takes The World By Storm
The Valhalla Rocker now has his own signature comic book, in conjunction with the world’s strongest coffee, Death Wish. With unique, striking art, the book, “Death Wish Coffee Presents Odinforce,” is one of the new trend of hard rock/heavy metal musicians doing comic book collaborations. Where’s the credit for the inspiration 😉

The book is a joint venture between Wylde and Death Wish to promote Vallhalla Java, Odinforce Blend, and Zakk’s new album “Book of Shadows II.” Valhalla Java is “forged from the volcanic soils of Indonesia and the nutrient rich soils of Central and South America, carefully crafted for the world’s most powerful guitarist, Zakk Wylde.”

By the way, congratulations are in order, for the promotional picture for Book of Shadows II at the end of the book – it’s some of the best promotional graphic art we’ve seen lately.

Guitarist Dizzy “Diz” Cortright’s totally uncensored raw emotion, is featured in the Nudeswirl song “Potato Trip”. Colorful arrays of ruffled feathers intervene with ethereal meditative states of transcendence. Warning! Not for the even tempered.

Vamplified Wins Award For Prince Remake
Normally known for heavy metal, Vamplified’s crossover erotic cover of Prince’s “The Beautiful Ones” has won “BEST MUSIC VIDEO, COVER / POP for May” from The Akademia Awards. Described by the Akademia as “The perfect visual complement to this Prince classic, Vamplified’s ‘Beautiful’ video highlights her stunning charisma and vocal talent, which would no doubt earn a smile of approval from his royal badness,” her cover deftly conveys the layers of meaning and emotion present in this Prince classic, fully illustrating her admiration of an artist that so deeply inspired her as a musician. Having been compared to a “female Prince” by Craig Chaquico, guitarist of Jefferson Starship, it’s no wonder that she absolutely nailed this cover! A must-watch  is featured on the Akademia website. Click this link to see the video!

Schizophrenic Rockstars?
On Ozzy’s Boneyard, Ozzy Osbourne was quoted to say, “All rockstars are schizophrenic.” Maybe he was on to something… as there are some commonalities between this and the thought processes of creativity. Where are you on the spectrum…?

Film festivals and a Blu-Spec remaster for X Japan
Japan’s most famous hard rock/heavy metal band has been in the film festival circuit recently, with screenings of the Stephen Kijak-produced autobiographical documentary “We Are X” showing at Sundance, South By Southwest, and being featured in the Cannes Marche, and at Moscow’s BEAT film and music festival, and at the Seattle International Film Festival. Upcoming screenings are planned for the Portland Film Festival and at an unnamed event in Shanghai, according to Kijak’s Twitter. Starting with their 1991 album “Jealousy,” all of the band’s albums have actually been produced at drummer and bandleader Yoshiki’s Hollywood studio, with filming and even two shows in LA, making the band truly one of Hollywood’s musical treasures – if, unfortunately, still an obscure one compared to their well-earned Japanese fame.

For more information, visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3yJhsrgg4g&feature=youtu.be

Speaking of “Jealousy,” a high-definition Blu-Spec remaster will be released July 27th, and if you like hard rock and heavy metal, it’s definitely worth your time to hear a band that should have made the Big 4 of the 1980s and early 1990s the Big 5, and which has, like Yoshiki’s marque wine, only improved with age.
