NEW YORK – Dare2Draw, a not-for-profit artists mentoring organization, just announced that it is producing its First Printed Dare2Draw Mentoring Anthology, Featuring Nexus, Mike Baron’s and Steve Rude’s ground-breaking, creator-owned character, developed in the 1980’s. This anthology provides up-and-coming comic book artists an opportunity to work under the mentorship of experienced comic book professionals and see their work printed, in a professional project. The anthology is being produced in association with the Joe Kubert School, which has been training top talent in comics for the past 30 years.
Using a crowdfunding platform to create this unique bridge to pro level work, for members of the Dare2Draw community and students of the Joe Kubert School, this anthology will be available in print, in October, for New York Comic Con 2016, one of the biggest celebrations of comic book culture, in the world.
“We’ve asked some of the top talent in the comic book industry and past Dare2Draw Mentors to contribute their skills to support this project,” said Charles D. Chenet, Founder and Executive Director of Dare2Draw. “The goal is to mentor this outstanding new batch of comic book artists, with the help of Simon Fraser, our Resident Mentoring Artist and Brendan Wright, our Editor on this project.”
Participating in this first-of-its-kind printed mentorship project are Comic Book Professionals: Adam Kubert, Andy Kubert, Mike Chen, Steve Rude, Mike Baron, Simon Fraser, Brendan Wright; professional writers: Alex DeCampi, Amy Chu, Ron Marz, Corinna Bechko, Eric M. Esquivel, Teel James Glenn, Jason Sterr; professional colorists: Tom Zuiko and Paul Mounts; professional letterer: Dezi Sienty; and comic book and military veteran: Mike Harris.
The Dare2Draw Anthology Series will feature a different famous, established, creator-owned character, with each anthology.
