Filmmakers Produce Short Film Based On True Story Of Ex-Royal Marine Commando Through Kickstarter

A story about injustice and the battle of one’s inner demons.

London, United Kingdom – June 14, 2016 – Steven Bartle, managing director of Bartle Productions, is seeking support from the Kickstarter community to fully produce the short film, Recoil. It’s a tragic yet beautiful true story about a former Royal Marines Commando who finds himself on a dark suicidal path searching for vengeance from those who destroyed his life. A campaign was launched to raise £10,000 by July 10, 2016. The funds received will be used to complete film production.

The inspiration for Recoil is based on a very dark period of Steven’s life.  He was drafted to the Royal Marines at the age of 16. He served in the 45 Commando in Arbroath, Scotland and was deployed to the Commando Brigade HQ in Afghanistan in 2009. His military career came to an abrupt end at age 20 due to an attack that caused severe injury to his right eye.  Steven was medically discharged from the Royal Marines, and the men responsible were not charged.

Recoil’s central character, Alex, is a former Royal Marines Commando, who finds himself on a self-destructive and suicidal path in search of vengeance. He wants to exact revenge on the men who ended his career, relationship, and very nearly ended his life. His harmful obsession is put into question when he meets Suzie. Her caring and loving nature gives Alex a reason to live again.

Bartle assembled an All-Star production team to make this film a reality. Upon completion, Recoil will be entered into numerous 2017 film festivals.  A feature film version has been written and is gaining lots of attention from UK and overseas production companies. The success of this short film will ensure the creation of the feature film.
