VehicleHistory.com, a company created to help consumers research the history of used cars before purchasing, has announced that they will now offer free VIN reports for vehicles registered in New York state, officials said yesterday.
“We’re rolling out our free VIN reports state by state, and the Empire State is our second one to launch,” said Vanessa Hernandez, a Vehicle History spokesperson. “We’re excited to allow our customers access to full reports for New York vehicles by VIN.”
Each New York VIN report is compiled from local, state and federal resources, Hernandez confirmed.
“Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act and similar laws, our company has been able to combine multiple databases,” said Hernandez. “This way, customers not only can get all the information the need, but they can get it in just a few clicks.”
The VIN reports will include different information depending on several variables, Hernandez said.
“Not every report will be the same, even for the same make and model of car,” she said. “Each VIN report will have specific information for the car the customer is searching for. That includes its registered location, the color, its modification history, even how much repair costs would be for that car in that area.”
The VIN reports for New York will be offered for free, said Hernandez.
“New Yorkers who are buying a used car have to go through enough obstacles,” said Hernandez. “Providing these reports and our other services for free helps used car buyers get a leg up on the process.”
Vehicle History believes that information wants to be free. Our goal is to help people get access to free reports about the history of a used vehicle before they decide whether or not they want to purchase it. With our constantly expanding data sources, we help more than 11,000 people a day get the free reports they need to help them simplify the otherwise complex process of buying a used car or truck.
We launched in December 2015, providing free reports to consumers while other companies were charging them considerable fees for the information they wanted. This allowed us to grow from our humble beginnings to where were are today. We help consumers who enjoy our high-quality customer service, free reports and the way we help them navigate the often treacherous used car marketplace.
