Hometown Urgent Care of Niles Kickoffs Warren City School’s Fall 2016 Athletic Program

Provides Onsite Sport Physicals for Student Athletes

NILES, OHIO: 24rd June 2016 – As part of their philosophy to give back to its communities, Hometown Urgent Care, Ohio’s largest urgent care system, has recently provided over 60 sport physicals to student athletes in the Warren City School District for grades 6-11 at substantial discounted rates.

Hometown’s lead anchor providers of the Niles center, Dr. Crispin Barlatt, and Guy Guimond, PA-C went on-site to Warren City Schools to provide the sport physicals.

“While the benefits of exercising and participating in sports greatly outweigh the risks, it is very important to have every student athlete undergo a sports physical even before beginning practice with that sport,” said Barlatt. “This was a great opportunity for us to give back to our local school district and ensure that all of our student athletes are prepared for the upcoming school year.”

Sport physicals identify any potential threatening conditions such as cardiac strain, while also evaluating other orthopedic conditions/concerns that may need treatment prior to participation. In addition, sport physicals evaluate a student’s history of concussions or head injuries to assess post-trauma or recurring symptoms. Most students are usually cleared to participate in sports.

According to Steve Arnold, Athletic Director for Warren City Schools, student safety is the number one priority before any practice even begins. “The early pre-season physicals for our student/athletes really assist us as we prepare for our respective seasons. Sport physicals are always mandatory for all student athletes. The professionalism that was exhibited by the Hometown staff was greatly appreciated by my coaching staff and administrators, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Hometown Urgent Care and their local Director, Tammy Russell, in the future.”

As mid-summer approaches, many sport teams have begun to practice for the upcoming fall season. For students of any district still needing a sport physical, Hometown Urgent Care is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at 1997 Niles-Cortland Rd NE.
