Mumford & Sons have added two new dates to their Austin 5000 Tour at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on September 20th and 21st. Presale tickets are currently available and general sale begins Friday the 24th of June at 10AM PST. These new tour dates at the Greek Theatre now mark the beginning of the Austin 5000 Tour for Mumford & Sons, which will then continue on to Las Vegas and across North America, culminating at Austin City Limits in Zilker Park, TX from October 7th to 9th.

The Austin 5000 tour is so named for the many miles the Mumford & Sons will have traveled by the time they finish the tour and is in promotion of their new EP Johannesburg that was released on Jun 17, 2016. The Johannesburg EP was created by Mumford & Sons in two days in South Africa, between tour stops. The five-song EP was inspired by and made with the sounds of South Africa and was a collaboration between Mumford & Sons and the Afro-Western dance/hip-hop outfit The Very Best, Senegalese superstar Baaba Maal and Cape Town pop group Beatenberg.

British rock band Mumford & Sons formed in London in 2007 and consists of Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane. Mumford & Sons have released two live albums and three studio albums titled Sigh No More which peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and the Billboard 200 in the US, Babel which became the fastest-selling rock album of the decade, received eight total Grammy nominations and won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and Wilder Mind which debuted at number one in the UK and US. The band won the Brit Award for Best British Album in 2011 for Sigh No More and altogether have been given six Grammy Award nominations throughout the years. They famously performed live at the 2011 Grammys with Bob Dylan and The Avett Brothers which led to a drastic increase in popularity in the US.

The Greek Theatre was built in 1929 and famously designed by architect Samuel Tilden Norton to be modeled after a Greek temple. Its 5,870 seat capacity has made it a popular location for hosting a number of events such as concerts, stage shows and graduation ceremonies. It won Pollstar Magazine’s Best Small Outdoor Venue award seven times in the past eight years.
