Master electrician and electronic engineer, Ron Mocogni wants to make TV Simple again through his new device, the iRMimic which syncs your TV, cable box, satellite, and other A/V components to make using a television easier and simpler just as it was in the good ol’ days. The iRMimic project is currently in need of funding and Ron has taken the initiative to setup a crowdfunding campaign on the most popular crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. The campaign will raise funds to cover the cost of tooling, manufacturing and various other expenses. The funding goal has been set for at least $75,000 USD to be raised before Mon, Aug 1 2016.
The device that Ron has designed will reduce the hassle of watching TV in today’s time of satellite, cable, Blu-ray, and media players. The iRMimic is an IR (infrared) learning remote built into a set top box. The iRMimic will store the status (on or off) of a user’s TV and cable/satellite box. The iRMimic will send out IR commands when a TV turns on and off. It forwards commands to turn on/off all of the user’s devices, changes the TV to the correct input, selects the correct audio settings on their AV receiver and can even change to the user’s favorite channel. The iRMimic also has four programmable buttons on the front, so users can easily switch between their cable, gaming devices, and media players.
Ron explains: “The iRMimic is a very simple device, but it solves several very frustrating problems – your cable box and other components getting out of sync with your TV, the wrong sound settings on your AV receiver, and your TV set to the incorrect input. The iRMimic allows you to use your existing cable or satellite remote and takes care of the other issues automatically such as syncing your devices and switching to the right TV input.”
What started as Ron’s experiment has now evolved into a product that greatly simplifies the TV watching experience. The designing, engineering, and development of the prototype and its testing has been carried out by Ron.
Ron has designed the device to be easy to install and requires a few simple steps to be up and running, even for people who do not consider themselves to be tech savvy. Complete step by step installation instructions will be provided with each device for the convenience of users. The device will work with any TV that has a USB port that turns on and off with the TV.
The ongoing Kickstarter campaign with an $75,000 funding goal has seen some progress since its launch, but it still has a long way to go and is looking towards the generosity of the online crowd who love watching television. The funds raised through the current crowdfunding campaign will be allocated to various aspects necessary for the completion of the product for consumer use.
A variety of different rewards and perks are also being offered to prize the generosity of those who support the campaign and the project through their monetary contributions.
