Wood-Ridge, N.J. – July 12, 2016 – The National Coalition of Latino Officers Foundation of New York and New Jersey honored Dr. Bernard Fialkoff, Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon of Bayside, New York, CEO of the Fialkoff Dental Study Club and Implant Certainty Training Program, and President and Founding Sponsor of Foundation for A Drug Free World of The Americas Chapter, for his stellar efforts in providing free access to drug education programming throughout the Eastern United States and Latin America.
Dr. Bernard Fialkoff was awarded with the Community Leader Award at the gala and fundraiser along with Michael Greco, US Marshal Southern District of New York; Edward Caban, Inspector, New York City Police Department; Darlene Rodriguez, Reporter, WNBC – NBC New York; and Amarilis Jacobo DDS, of the Hispanic Dental Association. Dr. Fialkoff founded The Americas Chapter of Drug Free World and has funded more than 1100 free drug education for NYC schools and after-school programs. Due to his leadership, multitudes of youth and kids have been safeguarded from the ravages of drugs.
In the month of June, as President of the chapter, Dr. Fialkoff produced the 9th Annual Drug Free Hero Awards Gala on June 2, a Drug Free World float in the Puerto Rican Day Parade and a Truth About Drugs Concert in Harlem featuring a Broadway star. At an interfaith workshop last week at Brooklyn Borough Hall, Dr. Fialkoff trained religious leaders on effective drug tools. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams declared June 21 “Foundation for a Drug Free World Day” in Brooklyn at the same event.
According to the NY Daily News, “Smack is back big time in the Big Apple, where fatal overdoses outnumber homicides and law enforcement seized roughly $300 million worth of heroin in 2014. In the first quarter of 2015, the DEA alone has already taken nearly 220 pounds of smack off the streets. “We’ve never seen these numbers, not even in the heroin epidemics from 30 to 40 years ago,” said James Hunt, special agent in charge of the DEA’s New York Field Division.”
Dr. Fialkoff said, “It is important to share the knowledge we have gained as adults with our children. They are the future generation and can be helped to avoid problems that we went through in our lives. As a doctor, one of our roles is to help our community, and that’s why I support the Drug Free World initiatives.”
The National Coalition of Latino Officers’ mission is to promote and facilitate unity, cooperation and collaboration amongst the many Latino law enforcement organizations and officers throughout the nation. Their goal is also to assist in the bridging the gap between law enforcement and communities.
Dr. Fialkoff sponsors the humanitarian youth outreach and educational program Foundation for a Drug Free World. Through his dental office’s sponsorship, more than 1100 free drug education events have been conducted at schools, after-schools and other community sites throughout NYC, NJ and Latin America where multitudes of our youth and kids have been safeguarded from the ravages of drugs. Dr. Fialkoff’s mission is to safeguard our community, our families and our youth through his sponsorship of the anti-drug education program.
