TEMPE, AZ – 12 July, 2016 – Sessions College, pioneers in online education, announced their approved renewal for membership with the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) in the state of Arizona.
The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) provides a new, voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of post secondary distance education. The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement is a voluntary agreement among its member states and U.S. territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offering of post secondary distance-education courses and programs.
States and institutions that choose to participate agree to operate under common standards and procedures, providing a more uniform and less costly regulatory environment for institutions, more focused oversight responsibilities for states, and better resolution of student complaints.
For students joining an institution that has a SARA membership, such as Sessions College, SARA provides many benefits. First, a school’s membership in SARA provides a higher level of consumer protection for students in other states. A student can enroll in a SARA school, safe in the knowledge the school is annually reviewed by SARA for compliance – and that they have an additional avenues for resolving complaints should problems arise.
“SARA has emerged as a viable solution to the problem of state authorization, by giving customers a level of quality assurance and consumer protection that crosses state lines,” said Sessions College President Gordon Drummond. “By reducing the spiraling institutional costs for this kind of protection, SARA is fulfilling its mission of enhancing overall quality of distance education.”
