The campaign aims to raise $100K to help an ex-serviceman purchase equipment for his wife who suffered a serious stroke. The money will also be used to pay for medical bills and other treatment to help her lead a more normal life.

An emotional and important crowdfunding campaign has been launched by Jerry Safford to help his wife of 36 years who suffered a serious stroke. Jerry Safford, a proud man who served his country in the U.S. Air Force, has turned to the GoFundMe platform to raise $100K to pay for medical bills and purchase special equipment for his wife Nok so she can lead a more improved lifestyle.

Each year tens of thousands of crowdfunding campaigns are launched to help people start a business, build a house, or invent a new product, but this campaign is different and is aimed to help give someone their life back.

Jerry Safford from Valdosta, Georgia, came home one day and was shocked to see his wife lying on her back in the living room. The ex-serviceman said with the horror he experienced and the thought he could be about to lose his wife; it is an experience he will never forget.

He explained: “It was about 2 A.M. on Jan. 22, 2016 when I came home from work, and I walked into my living room. I  saw my wife lying on her back. Her eyes were open, and she was staring at me, but she couldn’t speak. As I walked closer to her, she took her left hand and was tapping my leg as if she was trying to say, “help me.” I called 911 and from there my life was turned upside down in a matter of milliseconds.”

Nok was rushed to South Georgia Medical Center where doctors explained she had a serious stroke. The stroke was a bleed on her left side of her brain. Due to the seriousness of her health, the doctors had planned to fly her to Tallahassee Memorial but due to the bad weather, she was taken by ambulance. Nok spent 12 days in ICU, and it was five days before she managed to open her eyes. On Feb 3rd, Nok was transferred again and this time she was taken to Select specialty Hospital in Tallahassee where she stayed until March 1st. She was later moved to Brooks Rehab Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida until she was allowed to come home at the beginning of April.

Jerry had seen a lot in his lifetime and experienced many things during his military years, but nothing prepared him for what happened on that day or since that day he found his wife on the floor. Since the stroke, Jerry has been forced to give up work and care for his wife and help her achieve her dream of leading a normal life again and Jerry, who is a proud man is asking for people around the world for their help.

The ex-serviceman is looking for help to pay for the medical bills and is also looking to purchase a very important piece of equipment that will give his wife her freedom back.

Jerry explained: “I want to purchase the RT 300-SLSA with Sage 10, which is a piece of equipment that you can cycle with your hands or feet with a computer monitor with electrical stimulation. It will give my wife her freedom back.”

The RT 300-SLSA with Sage 10 is an expensive special piece of equipment (http://www.restorative-therapies.com/rt300-slsa_fes_rehabilitation_therapy_system) that can really change Nok and Jerry’s life.
