The popular web series Merce has been much more than a brilliant, comedic showcase for some of New York’s most talented entertainers.  With a HIV positive lead character, Merce has become a powerful vehicle for social change. This superbly written and staged musical comedy series was the first to make a HIV positive character the central figure of a show, helping to break down many stereotypes and stigmas. Merce has become a clarion call for many communities including the LGBTQ and the 1.2 million HIV population in the U.S.

Merce has successfully completed its first season, and show producers are eager to make its second season even more hilarious, eye opening and joyous. The new season will feature many of the first season’s cast and add new characters like Aunt Bless Cousin Todd and Dr. Dikshits.  The new season will also incorporate some compelling storylines about secondary HIV conditions, HIV Undetectable, PrEP and gay marriage.

Using a small but immensely talented group of actors, singers and production people, Merce has used a shoestring budget to create a first rate musical extravaganza.  Fans from around the world have fallen in love with this comedic gem which has earned accolades from major organizations like Poz Magazine, Poz.com, TheBody.com, HIVPlusMag.com, Queerty.com, QueerMeUp, A&U Magazine and BroadwayWorld.com. Lead actor Charles Sanchez was recently honored with a Best Lead Actor nomination from Austin WebFest.  The show will soon be joining OUTtv Europe’s lineup.

In order to build on the success of its debut season, Merce’s producers are inviting the public to participate in making history by supporting their Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. With your help Merce can continue to make people laugh and understand that living with HIV can be as richly rewarding as any other life. If you help the campaign reach its goal of $32,000 with a tax-deductible donation, you could receive perks like T-shirts, personal serenade, Co-Executive Producer credit, or Executive Producer credit.
